I have had the opportunity to visit Manus over the last few days – as the drawdown of the Contract approaches there has been a tremendous amount of good work done to relocate the logistic base to East Lorengau, clean and secure facilities, finalise the new business hub to be operated by our joint venture partners the Peren family and ensure staff transition out in an organised manner.

The final handover is scheduled to occur in the next week, the facility has tremendous potential with its fully operational electrical generation system, waste treatment and workshop site, office workplaces and abundant good quality accommodation. Under the responsibility of the PNG Immigration and Citizenship Authority it should continue to be a facility that is an asset for PNG for years to come.

The Paladin workforce continues to provide an excellent output during this phase of the operation, they are resilient, well skilled and professional. Our transition aim, which is to ensure a smooth transition to a care and maintenance provider, is on track thanks to the effort of all staff. Paladin – Hardest places, Highest Standards.
